Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program
Notice: As information is updated regularly, MHIAA advises customers to check the VEU Government website for the latest information and program availability prior to any purchase.Â
What is The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program?
The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU)Â program helps Victorians reduce their energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions by providing access to discounted energy efficient product and services.
It provides rebates and discounts to Victorians who replace old heating and cooling systems with more energy-efficient systems.
How Does the Program Work?
Large energy retailers are required to acquire and surrender Victorian energy efficiency certificates (VEECs) to meet annual target set in Victorian legislation.
‘Accredited persons’ that carry out upgrade activities by installing energy-efficient products in residential or non-residential premises can create VEECs.
The greenhouse gas savings associated with the installation of an energy efficient product and/or decommissioning of an inefficient product determines the number of VEECs that can be created. These are then traded to provide discounts or rebates to consumers.
Select MHIAA products fall under the Space Heating and Coolong Category:
- Part 6: Installing a high energy efficiency air conditioner
- Part 28: Upgrade of gas heating ductwork
How Do I Participate?
- Step 1: Look at the available products list.
- Step 2: Choose the products you wish to install to reduce your energy costs.
- Step 3: Engage with an accredited provider.
You need to work with an accredited provider that is authorised to install VEU energy efficient products. Accredited providers are also responsible for organising a discount or rebate for any products you choose to install. They will tell you:
- What products you can use
- Who can install the products you choose
