FAQ

What is the difference between Single Phase and Three Phase models of Ducted, Ceiling Suspended and Ceiling Cassette systems?
The power supply to the premises. A single phase has one power supply (standard) whereas a three phase has 3 power supplies. In general, residential premises use single phase and commercial premises use three phase, however three phase can be installed in your house. Each model is made to suit each application. To find out what application you require contact your local dealer.
What is the difference between High Static and Medium Static Ducted systems?
Static Pressure is the amount of pressure an AC unit needs to overcome friction. The longer the duct the more static you need. High Static ducted systems are suitable for larger houses with a longer duct range as they can produce more static pressure. Medium Static ducted systems are used in smaller/medium sized homes that have a shorter duct requirement.
What does the heating and cooling capacity (kW) mean?
The heating and cooling capacity of your AC is measured in kilowatts (kW). Kilowatts measure the amount of energy output that occurs during operation. AC units that have a larger kW capacity can heat or cool larger spaces.
What does reverse cycle mean?
A reverse cycle system will provide both heating and cooling options. This means that your air conditioner can be used all year round.
How can I ensure that my air conditioner is properly maintained to operate efficiently all year around?
To ensure your air conditioner works all year round you should regularly check, or have a technician check, for any blockages or obstructions in the drain pipes that run from your outdoor unit, clean the filters and ensure your air conditioner is regularly serviced.
Do I need a Ducted System in my house?
Depending on how many rooms you wish to heat or cool, and the size of your house, ducted air conditioners can be a more economical option over split systems. If you do not have roof space or room for ducting, ducted is not an option for your home.  To determine if you need a ducted system in your house contact your local MHI dealer who will help you make the right choice.
What size air conditioner do I typically need to meet the cooling and heating needs for my home?
A number of factors impact the size of the AC unit for your home. Factors such as building material, shading, structure, orientation, floor coverings and what your AC is required for will all impact the sizing of your AC. For the best advice on your room sizing needs contact your local dealer.
Who can I speak to about selecting the right air conditioner for my home?
Our local MHI dealers can answer all your questions and help you select the right air conditioner for your home. To find your local dealer click here.
Where do I go to buy an MHI air conditioner?
Our air conditioners are available at a number of different retail or dealer outlets. To find your closest local stockist click here.
I want to replace my old air conditioner. Should my replacement be the same size?
Depending on the age of your old air conditioner it is not always guaranteed that your replacement will be the same size. Your local MHI dealer will be able to clarify the perfect capacity size for your AC needs.
I am buying a new ducted system to replace the old one that I currently have. Can I use the existing ducts with my new system?
To get the maximum efficiency out of your AC unit and to take advantage of the updated technology we recommend that when replacing your ducted system you also replace the existing ducts. Request a Quote to check with an MHIAA dealer/installer on ductwork to be sure.
Why is it important to hire a licensed installer and what type of license do they need in Australia?
The installation process for air conditioners involves both electrical and refrigeration work, which is why it is important to have a licensed installer. In Australia, only a registered ARCTICK (Australian Refrigeration Council) Installer and an A-grade electrician should be used. Your 5 year parts and labour warranty will be voided if your system is installed by an unlicensed installer.
What is the installation process if I’m building a new home?
When building new home installers can work with your builders to develop a time frame that will suit them both. We recommend contacting your local installer at the beginning of the project so that your builder and installer can meet your exact requirements. For more information on this process please contact your local MHI dealer directly.
How long will it take to install an MHI air conditioner?
Depending on the unit you purchase the installation time will vary. Most split system air conditioners can be installed within a few hours. For Ducted systems this process is longer as there is more work needed. For the complete installation times and availabilities please contact your local MHI dealer.
Where should I place my air conditioner in the room?
To select the best location in your house for your AC unit you will need to consider the shape and size of your room, the capacity of the unit and the piping length that connects the indoor and outdoor unit. Contact your local MHI dealer today and find the best place to install your air conditioner.
