A Quick Guide to Your Best Night Sleep Solution!
Did you know that the room temperature and humidity levels in your bedroom affect how well you sleep at night?
When you go to sleep, your brain is trying to lower the body temperature. It helps the body to conserve energy, and this is one of the reasons why we feel so recharged after a good night’s sleep. However, if the room temperature – or rather how your body perceives it – is too cold or too hot, it may struggle to reach the ideal temperature, which makes you more awake and alert when this is the last thing you want to be!
While research varies, the optimum temperature for your bedroom is around 23°C. As for humidity, while it doesn’t change the temperature, it affects how your body perceives it – cold air with high relative humidity feels colder and the opposite is valid for the hot temperature as well.
Taking Temperature and Humidity Under Control
For those tossing and turning … by controlling these two key factors, namely temperature and humidity, in your bedroom, you can enjoy a better night’s rest.
And the good news is, you can kill two birds with one stone by simply adding an air conditioner unit to your bedroom interior.
By cooling down and keeping the temperature of your bedroom at an optimal level, you will also bring down the humidity levels in your room. This not only alleviates discomfort and restlessness, but also helps keep allergies and even dust mites at bay which humidity is often associated with.
4 Factors to Consider When Selecting an AC Unit for the Bedroom
To put you in control of your beauty sleep, we’ve put together a few things to consider when buying a perfect AC unit for your bedroom:
1. AC Unit SizeÂ
A smaller – 2.0 -3.5kW – unit is generally sufficient for a bedroom, but, ultimately, the size of the room will determine the output that you need. Click here to download an AC room sizing guide for a wall mounted split system and be sure to speak to your dealer before purchasing the unit.
2. Sleep SoundÂ
Be sure to look at the technical specifications of your potential unit for its sound levels (measured in decibels (dB)) before purchasing. The smaller the number the less noise you’ll get. For example, 2.0kW, 2.5kW and 3.5kW models in our Avanti® and Avanti PLUS® series that are ideal for bedroom usage can produce as little as 19dB on low fan mode which is even quieter than a sound of whisper!
3. Placement of Your AC UnitÂ
Rather than placing it directly above the bedhead, your AC unit should be placed to either the left or right-hand side of the bed or on the opposite wall facing the bed. This way, cool air doesn’t blow directly onto you but is rather used to cool and dry the bedroom for the perfect room temperature.
4. Lights OutÂ
There is nothing worse than a flickering light when you are trying to sleep and even something as small as an LED display light on your AC unit can be very distracting. Look for an AC unit with a brightness adjustment function which controls how bright the AC’s LED light is. Check out our Avanti® or Avanti PLUS® series.
