Hotel El Coloquio de los Perros

Back to Case Studies

Project Description

El Coloquio de los Perros is a boutique hotel with 68 rooms, recently opened in a popular area between the Cathedral and the University in the heart of Valladolid. The hotel is located close to the gastronomic, cultural and commercial vibe in the city.

The building has been restored in a unique way that incorporates the style of the original singular typical house from the 19th century with elements of new construction and great attention to detail.

The latest and the most efficient technology on the market was desired for this project so the hotel opted for the Q-ton solution from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to produce the domestic hot water (DHW). One Q-ton unit was installed along with two hot water storage vessels of 2,000 litres to cope with the demand of 5,100 litres per day from the hotel. Both installation of Q-ton as well as the storage tanks, has been done inside the plant room. This system can be installed both indoors or outdoors, offering greater versatility and flexibility to the end user and installer. The storage water temperature is 65 °C and the water is supplied at 60 °C around the hotel.

The average COP of this installation is 4.13 generating an estimated 67% running cost savings compared to an oil boiler. The estimated CO2 emissions reduction is 69%. The payback period is expected to be 1.8 years (compared to an oil boiler), the date when the customer will start to benefit from the savings.
