What is Q-ton?

Q-ton is an air-to-water heat pump which utilises patented compressor technology and CO2 gas as a refrigerant to offer a reliable and efficient hot water solution for a range of commercial applications. The Q-ton utilises the world’s first two-stage compressor (combining rotary and scroll technology) to maintain high efficiency and significantly high performance, even with cold outside air temperatures.

In addition to offering a sanitary grade hot water solution, Q-ton can now also be used in variety of space heating applications with return temperatures below 30°C. This is addition to delivering sanitary grade hot water, offering even further cost savings and efficiencies.

How Does Q-ton Work?
Q-ton works by absorbing heat contained in the air and then the world’s first patented rotary scroll (2 stage) compressor, compresses the CO2 refrigerant before transferring this absorbed heat to the water instantaneously supplying hot water from 60°C to 90°C.

What is a COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water system and how does it work?
A COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water system is an energy-efficient system that utilizes carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) as a natural refrigerant to heat water. It operates by extracting ambient heat from the surrounding air, even in low temperatures, and transferring it to the water through a refrigeration cycle. This process involves the COâ‚‚ refrigerant absorbing heat, being compressed to increase its temperature, and then releasing the heat to warm the water before the cycle repeats. Unlike traditional gas or electric water heaters, this allows COâ‚‚ heat pumps such as the Q-ton to achieve a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 4.3 meaning they generate 4.3 times more heat energy than the electricity they consume. This results in significant energy savings and a reduced carbon footprint.
What are the benefits of a COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water system? What industries and sectors are suitable for COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water systems? Why is the Q-ton COâ‚‚ heat pump better than electric or gas water heaters? Why are COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water systems better than electric or gas water heaters? How can I install a COâ‚‚ heat pump hot water system?
